Today, Herman Cain announced he was suspending his campaign for the Presidency of the United States. An epitaph from all the ladies that sunk his run for president, could be: “I came, I saw and I conquered.” Or, “I didn’t come to praise Cain, I came to bury him.” In a previous article I wrote about how none of us own our reputations, because it’s what others think, say and do. Nothing new about the rise and fall of politicians; history is filled with stories about the rising and falling of those in office and those seeking office. And this particular cycle of politics has its share of ups and downs of politicians.

One of the most amazing political careers is that of Newt Gingrich. He has withstood more ups anddowns and ins and outs, than any other politician I know of. In my opinion, the epitome of the seduction of politics. His rise to the top of the heap today is nothing short of “The metamorphosis of the monarch butterfly.”

He can flip in and out from being cantankerous to being charming without changing expressions, as shown in his conduct during the many televised debates. He has been called everything from a womanizer to a flip-flopper, from a conservative to a liberal bureaucrat. He has been so much a part of the establishment in Washington for so many years, he has apparently played all the roles, by his rules. And keeps re-inventing himself.

Obviously the most experienced politician on the horizon. Knows American history, and foreign affairs. Understands economics, and a polished debater.

As for myself, I’m not a political activist, however because my life and the future of my children and grandchildren is affected by politicians, I’m profoundly interested in what goes on, politically. And have always been interested in what goes on in this country, going back to the great Depression of the thirties and the Roosevelt era. I believe whatever happens in the next twelve months, will be the most important period in this nation since the Revolutionary war.

By this time next year, the mold will be set as to whether or not this nation survives to live on based upon the Principles upon which it was founded, or it will be so mired down in a completely different system of Socialism, there will not be enough life force left in the American people to overcome the bondage of Socialism.

The old saying “The tempo of the American people is never far ahead of nor far behind the tempo of Washington politics,” is a truism, as out-pictured today.

It is obvious to anyone with one eye and half sense, the majority of Americans have bought into the nanny-state agenda of Socialism, as opposed to the Free-enterprising capitalistic system of the original Republic. That system that provided the greatest good for the greatest number, has been replaced by Socialism, the antithesis of individual Freedom and private property ownership.

Undeniably, everything that has happened and is happening in this country, points to the trek towards a totalitarian system of government. And nothing has slowed it down, nor changed that direction.

Our only chance of changing back to the Principles upon which this nation was founded lies in the hands of the people, in the next 12 months. Therefore this current political campaign is the most important this nation has faced since the war with the British was won.

How could we have allowed ourselves to sink to this level of bondage? The answer is we the people voted ourselves into this predicament. It is dubious as to whether or not we can vote ourselves out of the disastrous conditions we voted ourselves into, but we must try.

There is much moaning and groaning by pundits as to whether or not President Obama is a Socialist. His record speaks for itself. Undeniably, he has implemented more programs of Socialism faster than anyone before him. He is not to blame for all that ails this nation, but he has expeditiously implemented more programs of Socialism than his predecessors. Therefore, he must be defeated in the coming election. Not an easy task, because he is a popular, charismatic politician, with a top-level group of advisors, and a lot of money behind his re-election.

The Republican Party has been in such a state of disarray and confusion, wrestling with each other, the minority in this country, who still value Freedom and private property ownership, have been like a ship without a rudder. Floundering around looking for a leader to head the pack, when out of the blue, Newt Gingrich rises up from the ashes.

Last Thursday he gave a dynamic speech before a group of Iowa voters that was as American as apple pie. I for one have been waiting a long time to hear a candidate give a speech like he gave. He spoke with eloquence about the Declaration of Independence and the Principles upon which this nation was founded. He presented a number of fresh ideas of his plans to re-transform this nation. He conveyed an understanding of the problems plaguing this nation, like no one else has. He related with clarity the history of this nation, where we came from, where we are today and what must be done to turn things around. With specific promises of what he could and would do as president.

Prior to listening to that speech on C-SPAN, I viewed him as just another establishment politician, like all the others, who have spent so much time in Washington. With too much baggage to be elected.

Strangely, I have heard nothing nor read anything about his speech. And I just happened to run across it on C-SPAN, flipping channels. But I must say, he gave a speech all Americans should hear. I would personally like to hear it again. What he had to say is in substance, what I have been wanting to hear. It was no fly by night hyperbole. It was a well thought out plan to turn this nation around.

After hearing that speech, I’m convinced he could defeat Obama, and is the one with the expertise in debating, to out-match President Obama. Like no one else I have heard. His rise in the polls has the Liberal press barking at his heels, but he can handle it. He is an experienced politician, a great historian, and a very smart man. Quite frankly, I underestimated him. Apparently through his trials, troubles and tribulations, he has learned some lessons. And has prepared himself with some common-sense solutions, that could pull this nation out of the ditch we are in. And is the only one I have heard, Republican nor Democrat, who presented some well thought out ideas. If he does nothing to shoot himself in the foot, he is electable.

His focus is not villifying his fellow Republicans, but on defeating Obama, to be President to turn this country around. And I for one am all for that.

Here’s a quote from Major General Butler: “War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses.”
