If a frog had wings would it bump its butt? Can you put a square peg in a round hole? Is a state house prison a resort hotel?
I’ve watched a few televised programs of state prisons, depicting a life behind bars with armed guards, and never looks like a picnic, nor a desirable place to be. The question is, why so many there are repeat offenders. Once one experiences the misery of life being incarcerated, once or twice, why do they commit a third crime knowing they will most likely return to the armed facility?
When prisoners are interviewed they give a variety of reasons. I’ve never heard one say they thought they would get away with the crime, but on some level, no doubt some do. Some say because they were drunk or drugged, and a variety of excuses for being a repeat offender.
Once behind bars the prisoner is provided the necessities of living, food, clothing and shelter, without working to pay for those perks. Some have access to tv, computers, libraries, and recreational facilities. It’s an existence in Socialism, whereby they are taken care of, everything paid for by government funds collected via taxes. There are thousands behind bars, and no doubt in my mind, many like the life of irresponsibility.
When they are released, many reject a life of self-responsibility and self-control, to be free and commit another crime to go back to a comfort zone in prison, having someone else take care of their responsibilities of living.
There is a seduction for many to have someone else assume their responsibilities, in prison and out of prison. As evidenced by the millions who are on one kind or another government dole program.
It’s a matter of record, the government-funded public school program is the largest, most expensive dole program in existence in this country. Over 100 billion dollars annually collected from producers to fund the program.
The compulsory attendance laws require parents to get up every morning during the week to dress their children and send them off to stand at a bus stop in the dark, to go to a facility, all day, to be indoctrinated in the tenets of Socialism. They return home, carrying their heavy backpack filled with textbooks promoting Socialism, and paid for by tax-payers. Many are latchkey kids, with no one home when they return. Both parents are working in many cases, returning home with too much to do and too tired to bother with any concerns about what was poured into their children’s minds that day.
If a child reports a problem in school, and the parent does take the time and interest to go to the school to address with the teacher or principal any problem, they get the runaround, and it winds up just being a venting process by the parent. Frequently the child is punished for complaining to the parent, and placed in detention the next time anything happens.
This is not conjecture or hearsay, I know from experience the routine of the school system, going back to the sixties, before I removed mine from the system. A very few act as I did, remove and homeschool. However most parents work outside the home nowadays and the option not available to them.
Twelve years of public schooling frequently winds up with a child on drugs, or involved in some kind of activity non-conducive to a healthy, happy productive life.
The current news everyday about the riots and protests, spreading across this country, under the name of “Occupy,” participated in by the youth of this country, is an out-picturing of results of this Socialistic system of schooling.
A very sad commentary on conditions We the People have set up, supported and participated in over a long period of time. The chickens have come home to roost, so to speak, wandering in streets and parks, some lying prone in the streets, boozing with placards, protesting they know not what. Blaming everything and everyone from A to Zizzard, except the very thing that landed them there, and that’s the socialized government-operated system of public schooling that indoctrinates instead of educating.
Inasmuch as we are now in the 5th or 6th generation of this system, most are in denial, and refuse to recognize the cause. And if one does see the problem for what it is, so indoctrinated into the “Too big to fail” mentality, see the school system too big to tackle. And that is simply not the case, not only can it be tackled and changed, it must be, and is the only viable solution to turning this nation around and re-transforming back to the principles upon which this nation was founded.
A daunting task, indeed, however if a bunch of loosely-knit, untrained farmer colonists took on the well-trained militia of British rule back in the days when communication was so much less than it is today, stood up, with a determination to be free, with a “Root, hog, or die” mantra, and won, surely in this day and age, we can re-claim our Freedoms, and turn the dilemma around, back to the Principles upon which this nation was founded.
Not only we can, we must, before we go down in history as being the last civilization of a free people.
From all news reports, pro and con about happenings in Europe and the Middle East, countries are dropping like flies, being transformed by Muslim Brotherhood of Sharia law, like Egypt and Libya. A system of bondage, from all accounts I read.
More disturbing news coming from President Obama, announcing he and his administrative staff are working every day, to further transform by executive order without Congress. A startling announcement yesterday.
I frankly like a so-called Do Nothing Congress. They have passed too many laws of rules, regulations and edicts, that have placed far too many restrictions on life in these United States already. But the one thing they could do is exercise reins on the actions of the executive branch, and tighten reins on proposed actions by the President. His announcements the past few days sound like loose-canon power to me.
In my opinion, he’s by-passing Congress, the Constitution and the people, in his proposed intentions.
Italian penal reformer Cesare Beccaria, said: “False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary trifling inconvenience, that would take fire from men because it burns, or water because one may drown in it, has no remedy for evils except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms, are laws of such nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.”
