We are all familiar with the timely story about the Trojan horse and the Greeks appearing bearing gifts, when they opened the Trojan horse and mowed the people down. A great moral to that story, which bears recalling relative to many events of today.

In today’s news cycle is the item about Vice President Joe Biden, speaking in south Florida, telling the people, “Even though 50 percent of the American people think that the economy tanked because of the last administration, that’s not relevant.” Biden said, what is relevant is we are in charge. And right now we are the ones in charge and it’s gotten better, but it hasn’t gotten better enough.” Adding, “I don’t blame them for being mad. We’re in charge.”

Well, la de da and tut tut, a good time to remind of the statement president Obama made, i.e., “No one messes with Joe.” Now Joe is broadcasting that he and Obama been messing around with the American people, adding, “Right now, understandably — totally legitimate – this is a referendum on Obama and Biden and the nature of the state of the economy.”

This is an interesting switch in political strategy, inasmuch as the Obama popularity is tanking like a brick in water, to use this rhetorical tactic, to attempt to medicate the feelings by saying in essence, it’s our fault and not yours. Like a parent, gently rubbing the top of the head of little Johnny, after he threw a brick through the neighbors window, and placating by trying to reassure the kid’s fear, by saying, “It’s not your fault.”

Which reminds me of Bastiat’s “Broken Window” theory. A story that conveys the notion that deliberately breaking one’s window somehow solves economic problems, because the act promotes employment by employing someone to repair it, and so enhances the employment of the glass manufacturer. Therefore it’s a legitamate and viable solution to unemployment to go around breaking windows. An interesting metaphor.

Similar to Roosevelt’s solutions during the last Great Depression, when he ordered farmers to plow under their crops, to raise prices for farmer production in this country, then initiated the CCC camps to provide work for the unemployed, by ditch digging and forestry work.

Everyone knows it’s the Obama administration at fault for his promotion of all the social programs promoted in the earlier part of the administration, which in essence compounded the economic crisis. However it is in actuality, the fault of the American people, for placing him in charge after his repetitious campaign speeches of “Yes we Can” in his “transformation of America” promnises, without ever saying what his plans were for his changes and transformation. And no one asking him what he meant by that.

Consequently this confessional talk by Joe Biden is another joke of doodle-bugging the American people, by trying to smooth their angry, dis-enchanted, bruised feelings, by this kind of talking down to the people with this verbiage, making excuses for the failed Utopia he promised on the campaign trail, the last go around.

After President Obama making so many speeches, blaming everyone and everything for the sorry mess he compounded, and it’s not working for voters to flock and support him, the demise of his popularity requires a different tactic for re-election. The best they can come up with is this verbiage, “It’s really our fault,” implying, now that we know and admit, give us another chance and perhaps we can do better, now that we know and acknowledge. It’s 101 child psychology.

What the American people need to do is stop listening to what the politicians say and start listening to what they are not saying. Joe Biden is not speaking of any plans to get this country out of the “ditch” the President admitted we are in, but instead whining by this confession, we stuck it to you and now admit it. As the old Southern saying goes: “What does that have to do with the price of rice in China?”

The VP is correct about one thing, and that’s his admission “We’re in charge.” And the fact of the matter is, the entire clan of those in charge will be saying and doing any and everything, between now and the 2012 election to stay in charge.

On the other hand, the Republican side will be doing the same thing, that is saying and doing anything, to be the next ones in charge. Which is the opportunity for the American people to listen and pay attention to what they all say and don’t say. It may be the last opportunity to avoid the downward slide towards collapse of a system put in place by our founding fathers which was a Constitutional Republic, that laid the groundwork for individual freedom and the free-enterprising system, which made this country the greatest Nation on earth, providing the greatest good for the greatest number known to mankind.

It’s imperative we listen carefully, because all we are hearing on the campaign trail are promises and promotions of the same thing that brought us to this brink of collapse. And I don’t need to remind the reader, doing the same thing expecting different results, defines insanity. Therefore, it’s past due time to replace the insanity with the reality of Truth, beginning with a recognition of just precisely what the meaning of Freedom actually is. And acting to re-claim it, by recognizing what it is, and admitting to ourselves having it out-weighs anything the politicians offer to replace it.

No one on the horizon in the line-up of politicians, Democrat nor Republicans, are offering any solutions to return this country back from a state of Socialism to conditions of Individual Freedom, private property ownership, and the economic system of free-enterprise. Perhaps Herman Cain comes the closest, but still somewhat lacking in getting down to the real nitty-gritty of what it requires to return this country back to the Principles upon which it was founded. If he took his opportunity of his rapid rise in popularity, based upon his smattering of approach relative to solutions, and spoke convincingly that his aim is to promote the change necessary to return this country back to its founding Principles, and spelled it out in no un-certain terms, he would zoom ahead of the pack.

He’s the only one thus far who is front and center, without all the baggage of political action all the others are burdened with. The Prologue to the Epilogue is, all the other candidates have a past in politics, which have been non-conducive to the Principles this Nation was founded and thrived upon at one time in our history. If he came out with a “Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead” strategy of returning this country to its original premise of the morality of personal Freedom and Private ownership, he could leap ahead of the pack. With all the wolves of the left hot on his trail.

However, he must speak up and speak out against the absymal mediocrity of the Socialistic conditions as they exist today, and promote the idea of Freedom. Because his life has been spent in the Free-enterprising system, instead of politics, he’s capable of promoting the changes necessary to turn things around. His current center stage position, is his opportunity to do just that.

The current conditions this country is in, point up the fact that the battle for survival is in full swing. And the heat of a battle requires a “Battle Plan.” Sun Tzu, the great strategist, stated it best: “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself, but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will suffer defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb to every battle.”
